Our Heritage

Wrought in Silence

"We do not craft words. We craft work. Every piece is born from hundreds of hours of silence."

The Meaning of Knendu

The name Knendu draws its origins from classical roots: kna, referencing the deep silence or sound of the void, and indu, the Sanskrit word for the moon. It represents the quiet space from which master craftsmen bring form to raw metals—whether through the physical gilding of a deity or the acoustic attunement of a singing bowl cast under the full moon.

Kathmandu Valley Masters

Our statues are handcrafted by third-generation master artisans using the ancient lost-wax casting technique. Every detail is hand-carved, and each deity is gilded in 24k gold, preserving metalworking traditions that have thrived in Nepal since the Licchavi period.

Acoustic Resonance

Every singing bowl is forged using a unique blend of seven sacred metals, hand-beaten, and tuned to precise frequencies. We select only bowls that exhibit deep, long-lasting harmonic resonance suited for sound therapy, meditation, and private collections.

A Lifetime of Devotion

A single statue can take up to a year of continuous, silent devotion to complete. The artists work in a meditative state, viewing their creation not as commercial commerce, but as a physical transmission of spiritual heritage. By choosing a Knendu piece, you support the livelihood of these master metalworkers and help sustain an endangered art form.
